Charter a boat on Menorca

Menorca's south-coast calas are the reason to charter here — Cala Macarella, Macarelleta, Mitjana, Trebalúger, Pregonda. Many are unreachable by car (or require long hike-ins). A boat changes the whole island geometry. Mahón harbor (the second-largest natural harbor in the world) is the main base.

Best for

  • Day charter to the south-coast calas inaccessible by road
  • Circumnavigating the island (one full day, 50km coastline)
  • Quiet weekly itineraries — Menorca attracts a calmer charter clientele
  • North coast exploration (Cala Pregonda, Cap de Cavalleria)

Popular routes

  • Mahón → Cala en Porter → Cala Mitjana → Cala Macarella (south coast, full day)
  • Mahón → Isla del Aire → Punta Prima (south-east, half day)
  • Ciutadella → Cala Morell → Cala Pregonda (north, dramatic cliffs)
  • Fornells → Cap de Cavalleria → Cala Tirant (north, calm sail)

Practical notes

Smaller fleet than Mallorca/Ibiza — book 2-3 months ahead even in shoulder season. North coast (Cap de Cavalleria) gets strong tramuntana wind; many operators won't go that route in poor forecast. South coast is sheltered. Fornells and Mahón have the protected anchorages. Some south-coast calas have anchoring restrictions in summer — operator handles permits.

Price guide

Skippered day€500-1,200/day (smaller fleet, calmer clientele, competitive rates)
Bareboat weekly€2,000-5,000/week (40ft sail or smaller motor)

Most foreign buyers in the Balearics own a boat or charter regularly. The properties with private moorings or marina access are a small slice of the market — we'll surface them.
